A selection of early acrylics

Having painted with watercolor when I was in high school, I wanted to branch out to a new medium when I returned to painting as an adult. Acrylics were initially attractive because of their drying time - each painting became a race to finish before the paint dried.

In full experimental mode, I rejected the use of brushes entirely - opting instead to paint almost exclusively with my fingers. With touch, I felt a closer connection with paint material and how it moved, blended and set.
2013. Acrylic on canvas, sizes vary.
