Library of Useful Knowledge

Founded in 1826, the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge published weekly scientific magazines for the working class. Their richly-illustrated publications included the Library of Useful Knowledge and the Penny Magazine.

I began collecting volumes in 2006 to digitize for the web, but Google got there first, followed by Archive.org.

Film Photography

Drawn to stark dry lakebeds and geological formations, I explored the landscapes of Arizona, New Mexico and Southern California with my Jeep Wrangler in the early 1990s – shooting over 1,000 rolls of 35mm and 120mm film.

Scanning is an ongoing work in progress.
